I’m a lifelong lover of dogs, they absolutely fascinate me, they are so intelligent, so endearing, so much fun and they are utterly life-enhancing.
I currently live in Hampshire with 5 dogs, 4 of which are rescues of varying mixed breeds and backgrounds.
Prior to working as a Canine Behaviourist and trainer I lived in London for 17 years, where I worked as a PR for clients such as Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Julien Macdonald and Nike, always accompanied every day in every office by my beloved Shih Tzu Nobby (seen here on my desk at Stella McCartney).
One to One Obedience & Behavioural Consultations
I offer bespoke one to one obedience and behavioural training sessions and consultations for puppies, dogs and rescue dogs, during which I look at all aspects of your dog's life, including diet. I work with your dog’s breed specific characteristics, individual temperament and particular motivations and breed drives.
I work within your daily routine, your location, family / work requirements and your previous experience with dogs, to create training and behaviour programmes that are manageable for you and your family.
As well as training, I have a particular interest in Canine Behaviour and I can help with many different issues and create bespoke behaviour modification programmes for many problems.
I can also help you find the right puppy, dog / rescue dog for you.
I have 10 years experience working with and rehabilitating rescue dogs: from puppies, to former street dogs through to dogs who have sadly previously been abused by other dogs or people. I have worked with many breeds including Jack Russells, Labradors, Hounds, Spaniels, German Shepherds, Collies, Min Pin and many different crossbreeds.
Charities I currently work with as a Canine Behaviourist and trainer include:
Spaniel Aid UK http://spanielaid.co.uk/about-us/
Wild at Heart Foundation http://www.wildatheartfoundation.org
Animals and Friends Pound & Rescue Team, Cyprus
Through all of these dogs I have learned that dogs do live in the moment and that they therefore have an amazing ability to change completely, whatever their background.
I have studied with Ross McCarthy MA FCFBA MBIPDT MGoDT AMBPSCA at The Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training (CIDBT) - these courses are approved through Kennel Club external inspection for the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Scheme (KCAI).
My CIDBT Qualifications & Certificates:
Understanding Canine Care and Behaviour
Practical and Effective Dog Training
Common Canine Behaviour Problems
The Canine Behaviourist (Advanced Course)
In addition I have studied and completed the Think Dog Certificate, with Pet Behaviour Counsellor, Sarah Whitehead (BA, MSc) and author of the bestselling ‘Clever Dog’ book.
I am accredited as a Dog Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers.
I attend seminars, courses and conferences regularly to ensure my methods and knowledge are up to date.
I am an avid animal lover and I have worked with and continue to support many animal charities.
